Some men seem to think that they need to look like Brad Pitt in order to get and keep a woman’s attention. They complain they don’t know what women want, and granted sometimes we don’t, but there is one type of guy that many women go for- someone that stands out from all the others. Quite a few guys will probably say that they’re different but often, they are either not different enough or stand out for all the wrong reasons.
If you have five different items in front of you and they are all relatively the same except for one, chances are you will be drawn to that one because it stands out. While going through the list, you may pick out a few things and say, “I do a couple of these so I don’t get it. I am different.” That may be true and while that’s a good start, the more ways you genuinely stand out from other guys (not faked to just seem different), the better your chances are that you’ll attract more women.
Accept Her Independence (and Encourage It)
If a woman wants to go out with her girlfriends to a bar or needs a night home by herself to relax, don’t complain about it. Some men get upset if the woman has a girls night or if he wants to see her and she says no because she wants alone time. Be content that she’s the type of person that doesn’t feel the need to be attached to your hip and doesn’t rely on someone else to make her happy because she already is with herself and her life. A woman should still be her own person and have her own hobbies, friends and interests separate from a relationship.
Back Off on Being a Couple Until You’re Actually a Couple
If you are one of the men that rush the stages of dating and start trying to act like a couple before you actually are one, you could be making a big mistake. It could actually make her feel smothered, annoyed and rushed. If you aren’t exclusive yet and she goes on a date or you see an Internet post from another guy about their plans for the weekend, don’t make a big deal out of it. Tell her how you feel if it bothers you, but keep your cool and skip the huge argument which will only make you look jealous and insecure. If there was no conversation regarding mutual exclusivity, then assume you two aren’t until a conversation actually happens. Instead of concentrating on what she’s doing with someone else, focus that energy on developing something between the two of you.
Plan Interesting Dates
When you ask anyone their idea of a standard date, chances are they say dinner and a movie. It’s the go-to date. While there are days the both of you may genuinely want to do that type of date, many times it happens because the person planning the date was too lazy to think of, or do the research for, another type of activity. Set yourself apart from the dinner and movie men and plan something that she probably hasn’t done before or at least doesn’t do very often. Walk on a beach boardwalk in spring, go snow tubing in winter and take a whale watching trip in summer. During autumn, take a fall foliage road trip and explore different places along the way. In some cases, these dates can even be less expensive than the standard date but are much more memorable and unique.
Live a Life Worth Talking About
Many people have a list of things they want to do in life other than the usual marriage, house and kids accomplishments, but unfortunately, not many actually do these things. Stand out from the many men that haven’t done a majority of exciting things they wanted and get started on your list. Whether it’s getting a job you love or going skydiving, when you live a life worth talking about, others are going to want to hear about it. It’s an attractive quality and you’ll come off as exciting and ambitious.
Fix or Build Something
Many women will say that there is something sexy about a man that is good with his hands and fixes or builds things. Unfortunately, compared to even a few decades ago, there seem to be more men that are inclined to hire out to have something done then to actually do it themselves. If you want to stand out from other men, learn how to build or fix something, even if it’s putting shelves up on the wall, putting a fence in the yard or changing the oil in the car. If you really have zero interest in those areas, at least learn how to fix up a few dishes in the kitchen.
Express Positive Thoughts
If you have feelings for a woman, if you think she looks beautiful in her new dress or if she helped you get through a rough time, tell her. You gain nothing by keeping those feelings to yourself. Too many men keep these thoughts quiet until it’s too late if they even say them at all. Stand out and be the man that doesn’t dote on her or follow her around like a puppy but when the moment calls for it, has the guts to open his mouth and pay her a compliment she deserves.
Bring Back Chivalry
Chivalry doesn’t make you look like any less of a man, in fact, it will make you look like more of one that actually has respect for women. Simple gestures, such as opening the car door for her, making plans in advance, holding the door open for her, saying “please,” “excuse me,” and “thank you,” and bringing her soup when she’s sick will often go over quite well. However, if you’re going to be chivalrous, make sure she acknowledges the gestures with a “thank you” in return.
