Wavy frizzy hair is thick hair that does not lie flat on the head. Frizzy hair can be hereditary or it can be a result of damaged hair.
To avoid frizzy hair you must avoid damaging your hair. Shampoos can damage hair and make hair frizzy or add to the frizz. Avoid shampooing your hair. If your hair gets dirty and you need to use some shampoo to wash your hair then just shampoo the scalp and avoid getting shampoo on the ends of the hair. The less you shampoo the less frizzy your hair will be.
Always use a good conditioner after you wash your hair. When you rinse your hair use a cold water rinse to help keep the frizz down. After I wash my hair I always leave some conditioner in my hair to help keep it moisturized.
Hair dryers can make hair frizzy. Avoid using a hair dryer if you have frizzy hair. Instead let your hair air dry. You can take a towel and wrap it around your head to help dry your hair. You can also use a towel and pull the hair through the towel to dry your hair. Another method of drying frizzy hair is to pull your hair through your fingers squeezing the water out as you do it. Get as much water out of your hair as you can and then let it air dry.
Brushing hair adds volume and fullness to hair. Don’t brush frizzy hair. Instead of brushing frizzy hair use a comb and shape the hair as you comb it. Try to use the comb to style the hair as you comb it.
Pulling hair back into a pony tail can make your hair frizzy. When you pull back your hair the hair can snap and break along the shaft. Once the hair is broke it will create short hair that pops up along the hairline and create frizz.
Anytime you lighten or highlight your hair it dries the hair out so avoid perms, highlights and other chemicals on your hair. Chemicals will dry hair out and create more frizz.
Oil can help tame frizz. You can put a light coating of oil in frizzy hair to help hold the hair down. The oil will also help moisturize the dry hair that is causing the frizz. You can use olive oil and just work it through the hair to keep down the frizz.
A good diet will help limit the frizz to a minimum. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and leave the sugar and processed food out of your diet. Eat proteins and fresh leafy vegetables to help keep the frizz down.
