Toddlers always have a way of saying the funniest things, mine is no exception. As I write this my youngest, Ginger, is just 3 years old. She’s had quite the collection of humorous things she’s said – many of them simply her struggling with saying the words. For today, I’m just going to write about one.
First, I’ll tell you a little about our situation. I’m a single dad and we share her between two states. Currently, I have her for four months or so and her mom gets her for the same amount of time. This year I happened to have her for my birthday and that’s where this story occurred.
I didn’t have any plans to get together with anyone on my actual birthday. I would do that a few days later, on the weekend. So, it would be just Ginger and I. It was a good day. We made a cake together and then I asked her where we should eat. Her answer was what you’d expect for a toddler, “McDonald’s.”
I asked her to clarify, “McDonald’s, for my birthday?”
I guess she changed her mind after that. She answered with “no.” That was fine, but the next thing out of her mouth was “you might die.” I’m not sure how she connected McDonald’s on my birthday to death, but it still makes me laugh. It’s those crazy connections that happen in a toddlers mind that makes every day an adventure.
We ended up just making something around the house if I recall. We never did make it to McDonald’s that day and that was just fine with me.
