Top honors for best brunch in Los Angeles, hands down has to go to The Griddle Café. The Griddle Café is the place to be for brunch and day of the week with its rock n’ roll atmosphere, the place is always loud, bustling, and full of energy. (If you’re claustrophobic, this is not the place for you.) This is also the place to be for celebrity sightings. Every time you go, you are bound to see a celeb. The Griddle Café is known for their out of this world pancakes. The pancake list is about 4 pages long. With crazy title and large plate sized pancakes, you are in for a treat.
If you are a Griddle virgin and love red velvet cake, you have to have the “Red Velvet” Pancake. It is a red velvet flavored pancake topped with swirls of cream cheese icing. The Griddle boasts that you will “Fall in love at first sight & bite”. This is not an understatement. If you are not a pancake person, another good choice is the Baked Potato Omelette. It is loaded with potatoes, sour cream, and green onions, cheddar cheese is optional but highly suggested. The Griddle Café is located at 7919 Sunset Blvd in Hollywood (on the corner of Sunset & Fairfax).
Next we have Toast Bakery Café located at 8221 W. 3rd St in Los Angeles. Toast is also always bustling. It is the place to see and be seen. This is where the big boys come out and show off their Rolls Royce’s and Bentley’s. Toast is not just a fashion show though. It has an amazing menu. Make sure and try the Stuffed French Toast. It is stuffed with layers of banana pudding, caramelized bananas, and walnuts. The menu is a la carte so you will have to order your eggs and meat separately. The bacon compliments the Stuffed French Toast beautifully.
Last, but certainly not least, is Tart Restaurant. Tart Restaurant is located at the Farmer’s Daughter Hotel at 115 S. Fairfax Ave in Los Angeles (across the street from The Farmer’s Market on 3rd and Fairfax). Tart is also a place to see and be seen. Made famous on the MTV hit show “The Hills”, you will find it a very fashionable and chic atmosphere. Their house special is the Brioche French Toast. It is topped with cranberries, bananas, strawberries, and powdered sugar. It tastes like heaven.
