It is unbelievable that such an important spot may actually be closed because of lack of state funding. Even if Coloma does not get funding you will still get to go into the park just like when it is closed during the regular year. If you have kids going into 4th grade when they learn about California history in schools this is a great spot to go. If your kids love outdoors they will enjoy Coloma. Kids and adults will enjoy gold panning though you can only use a pan and a hand to pan in the park. Outside you can pan with anything but you will have to watch out as many people have claims in the area and are protective of them. Coloma is a great place if you like the outdoors.
