So teens are always looking for something to do? Well why don’t you make some money and gain some experience. These jobs will help you in the long run because they provide great life lessons and look great towards colleges and/or future employers.
#1- Lifeguard ($7.30-25) hr
Being a lifeguard is a pretty cool job because you can make a lot of money while meeting new people around your age. And this skill is very impressive towards many people including colleges. So what do you have to do to become a lifeguard? Well, you need to enroll in a class that usually takes 2-3 weeks depending on how long the sessions are. The class is formatted around teaching you basic life saving skills about CPR and AED, but this class usually costs around $300 to $400. I think this the class is well worth it, because life guarding is a fun and easy job! Life-guarding is also one of the job that is actually still hiring, ask around your local gyms or public parks!
#2- Sales Associate ($7.30-9) hr
Sales associate’s are the people in stores who help costumers with anything. You can work at the mall or your favorite clothing store, which also gives you another benefit (Discounts)! It’s a pretty easy job, all that is required is standing for a long time, doing simple tasks such as folding clothes and cleaning, and making sure costumers are cared for.
#3- Baby Sitter or Pet Sitter ($7-25) hr
Sitting is a very fun job! It also pays well, and you get paid quickly (without taxes). A day in the life of a sitter is pretty much, cleaning, feeding, and playing with the kids (or pets). You can also take classes to improve your skills and make you look more professional, classes are offered through the red-cross and the YMCA.
#4- Front Desk ($7.00-9) hr
Being at the front desk, you will help answering costumers (in person and on the phone), give directions, and help other employees who need your assistance. Teens can also gain a lot of experience in the work place by doing different tasks assigned and showing off their hard work.
#5- Tutor ($7-30) hr
Tutors help students with improving their academics in school, in any subject area. Being a tutor is a cool job, but you have to be skilled in the area your tutoring and be patient with your client. This job also looks very good on resumes and applications because it is showing that you care and like to help others!
So just remember when you apply to jobs act very professional and explain your previous experience with in the field that you are applying for. These jobs are always in demand and pay out fairly nice too, especially for teens! Good Luck!
