In certain parts of the country the weather is gearing up both seasonally and fashion-wise for a shift in wardrobe. Fall is on its way and that means getting out your clothing items for fall or possibly starting anew. If you are of the latter here are the top five essential basics you’ll need to start your fall wardrobe with. You don’t need to buy a lot of pantsuits, 3-piece ensembles or loads of bulky sweater tops. Instead, you may be surprised on what is needed to ultimately build from there. For each item there is a link to show you various examples. Now without further ado here are the top five wardrobe basics every woman needs for the fall season.
1.) The Blazin’ Blazer
Without question this is a key piece for your fall wardrobe. If you get only one clothing item be sure it’s a blazer. These types of light jackets spell out fall. It makes no difference if a blazer comes from a business suit, superstore retailer, thrift store or consignment shop they are a must have. Be sure to check out the links for some excellent examples on each of the five listed wardrobe essentials.
2.) Your Basic White Blouse
Now here is an excellent clothing item that never goes out of style. You can also wear it all-year round. White is one of the neutral colors, so it goes with everything. Wear it with a blazer, sweater, pullover or simply plain with jeans or a skirt or a business suit. It doesn’t matter what your white blouse may look like it’s sure to get everyone’s attention this fall.
3.) Turtleneck Tops
These unique tops have been around for decades, but they are the perfect fashion statement for the fall/winter season. You can never go wrong with them. Make sure you have a few in dark neutral colors like black, charcoal and navy. One of the great things about turtlenecks is you can wear them with casual wear or in a business setting. Depending on where you live a cashmere or light cotton-silk blend top is practical for those who live in the South. I’m afraid turtlenecks are much too hot for certain parts of Florida, except in the months of January and February.
4.) Cardigan Sweaters
Besides blazers, another fashion item that is quintessential of the fall season is cardigans. These are sweaters you either button up or zip up. All you need are some neutral colors to get started. You can wear them with your white blouse or your standard black dress. It certainly doesn’t hurt to accessorize them either.
5.) A Coat of the Season
Finally, we come to the most important and significant wardrobe basic of all, the coat. This is a piece you’ll need to invest in, because it must be long enough for your skirt or dress. Also, purchase a coat in a dark neutral color like black, charcoal or navy. The lighter colors tend to show too much dirt. In my fall wardrobe I have a navy blue trench coat with a heavy zipped liner I use when it gets colder. Trench coats are light-weight, practical and warm. They also never go out of style.
Now that you have this wealth of information you are more than ready to start building on your fall wardrobe. Who would have thought it could be so easy with these five items that include a blazer, white blouse, turtleneck top, cardigan sweater and coat?
