Taylor Swift has written many great songs during her career. Since her first hit song, “Tim McGraw,” she has come a long way. Let us take a look at the top five best Taylor Swift Music videos. If you feel differently be sure to let it be known!
5. “White Horse”
White horse is a sad, slow ballad recounting a love that went wrong. It reminds listeners of a love that they believed in that truly needed to be let go. As Taylor says, “I’m not a princess, this ain’t a fairy tale…I was a dreamer before you went and let me down. Now it’s too late for your white horse to come around.” It makes listeners think of a love that they so badly wanted to work, but it was not meant to be. In the end of song, Swift recognizes that someday there will be a person who is meant to treat her well.
This song is adorable. It brings you back to when you were awkward in high school, experiencing love for the first time. I think we all remember how hard high school was for many people and how easy it is to fall in and out of love. Taylor talks about, “this is life before you know who you’re gonna be. Fifteen.” Such a true line. It is amazing how much we grow and mature in life and how little the things in high school seem, but it is fun to look back when hearing this song.
“Mine” is the newest song off of Taylor’s Speak Now album. Speak now is her third album that just recently was released to the public. Mine is one of her songs that touches on the fear of falling in love and when it is happening. The love over took the fear as she says “you are the best thing that’s ever been mine.” It is easy to see the evolution of Taylor as she grows into a young woman through this song. With her first CD she was just a teenager. Now she has a more seasoned view on love and life.
2. “Should’ve Said No”
This song seems to be a song about a love that went wrong. Swift seems to allude that the boy was a cheater stating that “it was a moment of weakness… and you said yes.” Then boy begs for her back, but she refuses to take him no matter how much he begs. This is a great example of a strong woman standing up for herself. It would be nice to see more females not giving into cheaters or liars. Go Taylor!
1. “Love Story”
Love Story is a personal favorite. This song talks about the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet…very romantic and sad! Fortunately, Taylor’s music video character has a happy ending in this one. It creates the visual of a an unrequited love that blossoms and is finally accepted. As Swift says, “I sneak out to the garden to see you, we keep quiet because we’re dead it they knew.” I think at least some of us have had these romances. If not, it is fun to imagine! Every enjoys a good love story.
Hopefully there will be new songs that we find we love on her new album, “Speak Now.” Feel free to list what songs are your top five!
