Italian food is some of my favorite food in the world. Even though I’m of Irish descent, the taste of lasagna melting in my mouth or a slice of great pizza is second to none. So if you’re visiting the beautiful Nature Coast in Citrus County, Florida and you get the hankering for a superb Italian dish, check out my list of the top three Italian restaurants in Citrus County, Florida.
Heidi’s Italian Restaurant
One of the most classic and well known Italian restaurants in Citrus Counties biggest town, Inverness. This old school Italian restaurant has been around for years. This little restaurant is located in the heart of Inverness, Florida on the corners of SR 44 and US41.
Its small atmosphere makes this well hidden gem a quaint place to take a date or friend to talk in a more secluded setting. The food is superb and wait staff is punctual and polite. Check out there full menu and website here.
Ferrara‘s Italian Deli
One of the best slices of pizza I have ever eaten anywhere in the world, this place is worth the trip from anywhere in the state if you’re a pizza coinsure. Owned and operated through three generations of the Ferrara family, they have been in the same building for years and the grandpa can still be seen working in the deli, making pies.
While this Italian deli is so much more than pizza, it is a small take out place and it has limited hours. Ferrara’s Italian Deli is located on Lecanto Highway in Beverly Hills, Fl. Call (352)746-3354 for hours of operation and daily specials.
Luigi’s Italian Restaurant
My all time personal favorite place in Citrus County for the best lasagna. A huge heaping mound of delicious steaming lasagna, a big house salad and breadsticks, all for under $10! Where else can you find such good deals?
This place has no character and is a complete hole in the wall. Tables are jockeyed together and it’s a set yourself. But the lack of style in table settings is completely overshadowed by the delicious food and huge servings for a cheap price. Luigi’s is located in Homosassa, Florida on US 19, just south of the Wildlife Park. Call (352) 628-5544 for more details.
