In “True Blood” Season 3 Episode 11 “Fresh Blood,” two lives are marked for destruction, V juice causes problems, one man goes insane but is redeemed by sex, and a couple takes their relationship to the next level.
And Sookie sure is annoyed at just about everyone. Spoilers follow.
Sookie is rescued by Bill, with the help of the Estonian dancer who, as it turns out, used to be a heart surgeon back home. There is a story in that. Pam sprays Bill, by the well, with silver, which burns his eyes worse than mace. But Pam gets chained up and Bill and Sookie make their escape.
Russell confronts Eric about Talbott, asking why, instead of just killing Eric outright. Bad mistake, as Eric is able to tempt Russell with Sookie’s fae blood. The ability to walk around in the day time would certainly contribute to Russell’s plans to take over the world.
So, while Bill and Sookie make their getaway, discussing trust issues, Eric and Russell bushwhack them and carry them off back to Fangtasia for Bill to be chained up and Sookie to be ensanguined.
Meanwhile, Sam, going on a bender, is being a pill to his employees and to his customers. This empties the bar, except for Tara, who had confronted Andy earlier about Eggs and was astonished to find genuine regret and grief in the heart of the law in Bon Temps. One thing leads to another, which leads to sex. One hopes this will restore the calm of both of them.
It looks like abortion clinics are few and far between in Bon Temps, so Arlene goes to her fellow waitress, also a Wiccan priestess, and goes through a procedure that involves a lot of chanting and drinking something nasty. This results in some blood, but not the demise of Renee’s spawn. Alas.
Jason does not take Chrystal’s revelation of being a were-panther, nor the realization that she is to be mated with her half brother, very well. But then he finds that the local high school has a V juice problem, especially the star quarterback who is gulping it down to enhance his game. This offends ex-jock Jason, who blew his knees making touchdown passes the old fashion way.
Speaking of problems with V, Lafayette is starting to have after effects of his latest trip with Jesus.
Hoyt and Jessica engage in a little drinking/getting drunk and sex game. They are unaware that Summer and Hoyt’s mom are scheming to separate them and have Hoyt gallop Summer who, while an air head, is human.
Back at Fangtasia, Eric and Russell have a drink with Sookie. Eric goes out first to show that the walking in daylight thing works. Then Russell follows, fascinated by seeing the sun for the first time in 3,000 years. Meanwhile, Bill is begging Pam to unchain him so, once again, he can help save the drained Sookie with his blood.
The problem with the walking in sunlight thing is that it is temporary. Russell finds this out when Eric handcuffs the two of them together. “Be brave,” the Viking says. Russell is not pleased.
