Two actors will stand out on the “Stand Up to Cancer” 2010 fundraiser telethon Friday night. The charity event comes at a time when one actor has been recently diagnosed with cancer and on the anniversary of another who died at this time last year.
Two Actors Stand Out in “Stand Up to Cancer” 2010 Telethon
Michael Douglas came out in early August to announce his diagnosis of stage 1 throat cancer. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when he explained it was caught early and will be easy to beat. A few weeks later on David Letterman, Douglas said he learned the cancer was more advanced than originally thought. He told a live audience his condition was actually a stage 4.
The “Stand Up to Cancer” fundraiser will perhaps grab more attention than normal in 2010 with this celebrity’s latest condition. Douglas has a huge support system and is displaying admirable strength to others as he undergoes radiation and therapy with an optimistic attitude. He’s expected to make an appearance on tonight’s telethon.
Patrick Swayze Will Be in Our Thoughts
Another actor who will be highlighted is Patrick Swayze after his ongoing battle with pancreatic cancer. Swayze was a talent many in Hollywood and globally respected as an amazing star – and person. He died September 14, 2009 – just 20 months after his initial cancer diagnosis.
There’s no doubt these two actors will be highlighted in some way during the “Stand Up to Cancer” fund raisier telethon.
Several actors, actresses, and singers will join in the fight against cancer on all four networks Friday night. “Stand Up to Cancer” 2010 will be seen on ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX networks at 8/7 c.
