With many duties to finish every day it seems I don’t have much time for myself. I am mom, homemaker, chauffeur, tutor and cheerleader for the kids. With my husband being disabled I am also breadwinner, landscaper and sometime mechanic, just to name a few. With the kids back in school I have two hours a day just to myself. What types of activities could be accomplished in just two hours a day?
Earn More Income. Two hours could be used to make income from home. Writing for websites such as Associated Content from Yahoo! can fit easily into a two hour period. Even if you could only write a couple articles a week, the income adds up.
Since I already write for AC, I can use this time for research and writing without interruption. I do try to block time out of my schedule daily for this as it is my second job, but there are always needs that need to be met. With the kids at school, I only have to set guidelines for my husband.
Educational or Activity Opportunities. With two hours, you could take a class of some type. This could be educational, such as taking a class at a local university if it is offered during this time slot. If you ever wanted to get a degree, taking classes while the kids are in school avoids the need for a sitter while giving you personal enrichment.
You could join a gym or take a fitness class. Local community centers often offer low-cost fitness and exercise classes. Again, if you do this while the kids are at school, no need to get a sitter or feel guilty about having some time improving your fitness level.
Personal Pampering. If you find you run out of energy during the day and like to nap a bit, taking your map while the kids are in school prevents interruption. Though I generally only nap about 20 minutes, it never fails that I get woken up as soon as I fall asleep because someone always needs me at that time.
Do you miss taking a long bath without someone knocking on the door? I can’t even take two minutes in the bathroom without someone yelling through the door that they need something. Two hours can be used to really enjoy a bath and some quiet time. You have to take care of yourself to keep taking care of others.
Something You’ve Always Wanted to Do. I know that sounds pretty vague, but we all have different hopes and dreams. Did you ever want to write a book? Two hours is enough to start writing down ideas and sorting them out. Even just starting and writing in a journal during two hours time can bring personal fulfillment.
Maybe you’ve wanted to take some type of lesson. You could learn to dance or even fly a plane. As long as the lessons fall within your time range and you can afford the, this free time allows you the opportunity to do whatever you like. It’s up to you to go out and do it.
Two Hours Time with the Kids Back in School. Two hours may not seem like a lot, but you could do so much in that time if you really want to. Take this time to do something special for yourself. The kids will need you when they are home so take advantage of this unscheduled time.
There are so many other things for me to do when the kids are at home. Above all, they need me as mom. But for two hours a day, Monday through Friday, I now have unlimited opportunities with time just for me. I still have dreams at age 44. With two hours a day I can reach each and every one if I choose to do so. But no matter what I choose to do with my two hours of time, my favorite time will still be the time when my kids are home again.
