Are you scouring the internet for homemade Halloween costume ideas for toddlers? Do you want a cheap costume that doesn’t require any sewing? Just want inexpensive ideas that are still creative and unusual? Here are a few Halloween costume ideas to consider for 2010.
One clever and cute homemade Halloween costume idea for your toddler or child is to be a bunch of grapes. This is definitely a memorable idea and will make a fabulous photo. (Who knows, maybe it’ll be in his/her wedding rehearsal dinner slide show some day.) It requires a sweatsuit (preferably) and a bunch of purple or green balloons. Read “A Bunch of Grapes: Unique Halloween Costume Idea” for advice on how to make it.
Black Eyed Pea
This one isn’t necessarily an adorable Halloween cosume, but it is unusual and fun. This might be a better costume choice for older children. It is incredibly simple to make. Your child will wear a sweatsuit with a giant “P” on the shirt. You can either paint it on, or even tape a cardboard cut-out on the front. Then use a little black face paint or mascara to create a black-eye on your child – and voila! – you’ve got a “black eyed pea”!
This one is a little trickier to make but it’s an absolutely precious Halloween costume idea. It calls for a medium sized box and Christmas wrapping paper. Wrap the box up in paper, and then cut out two holes for the child’s arm. The child will then wear the Christmas present over clothing. You might attach a big note saying “Don’t open until Christmas!” For an added touch, the child can wear a Santa hat, if you’re able to find one at this time of year.
Miss America (For Girls)
This Halloween costume idea involves the little girl wearing the prettiest dress she has, putting her hair in an up-do, and applying generous make-up. You can easily find a tiara or crown at Wal-Mart or at a toy store. (Ask for dress up clothing.) The hardest part to make is the sash. You can buy some shiny fabric at a sewing store. Then write “Miss America” on the fabric, or with a glitter pen. You’ll staple the ends to create the sash. If you want, for older children, you could look for a very small evening-gown type dress at a used clothing store
