Using strategies in business will often determine the level of success (or lack of success) for any business. Much like a board game (such as checkers, backgammon or chess), the decisions we make daily can bring on a win, a bigger win, or an even bigger win! And, it all comes attached to our comfort zone in making the right decisions.
When playing checkers, you do have to use some strategies to overcome your opponent. But in comparison to backgammon or chess, you don’t use as much strategizing. In order to win big in checkers, you just need a little practice. I call this the “comfort” board game. Most people have played checkers at least once in their life and the rules are simple and easy to remember.
In business, when an entrepreneur uses “comfort” strategies in their decision making, they might become successful, but it’s normally success within their comfort zone.
The strategies used in backgammon are a little tougher to do, but not quite as tough as they are in playing chess. When an entrepreneur uses strategies a little tougher than their opponent, success comes on a much grander scale. Each time they out-maneuver their competition, they get a little closer to a big win. And when they step up to using strategies used in playing chess, the sky is absolutely the limit.
Thinking and strategizing plays a huge part in your level of success. Of course, I’m not saying any of the three are bad. They’re just different, that’s all.
If you love being in control of everything as a small, successful business, the “checkers” strategy is perfect for you. But, if you really want your business to grow quickly, consider using either the “backgammon” or the “chess” method of strategy to help you reach your goals.
It’s all in having the right mindset and mapping out your strategies, beforehand. Now, is anyone up for a good game of chess?
