“Dead Weight” can make for a “worthy opponent” if you are in a fight.
“Playing Dead” while it is a cunning trick won’t always work to give you an upper hand over your opponent. An opponent may not think twice about you “Playing Dead” or not care and continue fighting possibly hurting you much worse if you are lying there thinking your opponent will give up.
“Dead Weight” is different in that it isn’t a cunning trick but a crafty ploy to buckle down the opponent under your weight. Whatever your size if you sat on somebody’s hand you would be able to pin their hand down without much effort. The person whose hand is being sat on would still be able to push you with their free hand or fling against you with their body in the hopes of knocking you off.
The strategy of “Dead Weight” isn’t going to work well if applied on someone standing. If you lay down on someone’s foot who is standing as “Dead Weight” they’ll be able to roll you off or attack you from above. This puts you in a vulnerable position.
The “Dead Weight” strategy is best applied on an opponent sitting or lying down.
If you want to get the upper hand on them roll on the part you want to pin down and relax your body weight allowing it to hold it down. Your opponent may have the same thing in mind and may try to fling their body weight on you.
There are many ways they can try to do this using individual body parts instead of their whole body. They may try casting a leg over your mid-section to try to pin you down. They could attempt to cast a leg over your neck allowing the weight to choke you. Lying as “Dead Weight” over someone’s face could suffocate him or her.
“Dead Weight” is harder to move making it twice as hard to get a person lying on top of you pinning you down off.
If you can move your hand underneath the opponent pinning you down you may be able to accomplish getting them off by pinching them. Where and how hard you pinch them may have a lot to do with being able to succeed. Depending on the location of the pinch the opponent may barely be able to feel it. Pinching in vulnerable spots, spots that contain less fat, with the tips of your fingernails instead of with your finger can cause a person to come to attention.
