The movie Vampires Suck is a parody of the first two movies of the Twilight Saga Series Twilight and New Moon. When I first saw the movie preview, it looked really good and I was excited to see it. However, when I finally went to see it a few days after it was released, I didn’t like it as much as I thought I was going to. I should have expected this though because I actually like the Twilight Saga Series and the seriousness of it.
Don’t get me wrong, I liked Vampire Sucks and it definitely made me laugh. But, that’s all it did. The producers did a really good job finding the perfect places to make a joke and that is very important for this kind of parody. People went to watch this movie to laugh so that’s what it needs to accomplish. I also like how they knew where to draw the line between funny and stupid. There are movies out there with the purpose of being funny but the finished product ends up being completely ridiculous. Vampires Suck did a great job avoiding this.
My Favorite Parts of Vampires Suck
I love how Rebecca (parody name for Bella) beats the crap out of her dad. He is trying to teach her how to defend herself and tells her to practice on him. He ends up on the ground holding his junk.
Edward is having a romantic moment with Rebecca and she says she wants to go “all the way”. She attempts to get on top of him, but he says to stop and then shows her his purity ring. When she doesn’t stop, he hits her in the head with a lamp. That whole scene is a pretty crazy one.
I love how Jacob is in Rebecca’s room and he takes off his shirt for no apparent reason. When she asks him why he took off his shirt, he says that his movie contract says that he has to every ten minutes of screen time.
My Least Favorite Parts of Vampires Suck
When Rebecca walks into her room for the first time since she has been back in Sporks, her dad says that he left her room just the way it was the last time she was there. When she walks in, there is a baby crib, some dolls, and a bunch of baby stuff. It really wasn’t that funny, it just looked stupid. And the father was telling her to play with her dolls and the girl is seventeen years old!
I’m not sure if this is something I don’t like, but rather I don’t understand it. When Rebecca is on the motorcycle and she jumps off, Jacob comes over and takes off his shirt and exposes a very hairy chest. It looks really gross. But then in later scenes, he doesn’t have any hair on his chest at all. I’m not sure what that is about.
Overall, I think this movie was a funny movie and I don’t regret going to see it. However, I don’t think I am going to buy it on DVD or anything. It is kind of one of those movies that you only watch once. If you liked the Twilight Saga Series movies, then you will definitely find the humor in this one.
