Following the original smash hit Jet Moto, Jet Moto 2 returns to bring you more futuristic hover-bike racing fun amidst brand new environments and all new hover bikes.
Jet Moto 2 manages to improve upon the visuals of the first game, however, if you want the highest quality, just simply go with Jet Moto 3 for obvious reasons. However, the graphics here manage to get the job done with nicely made renderings of the racer characters, the cool hovering bikes, and the awesome detailed environments you get to race in – once again ranging from tropical islands to swamps and much more. Keep in mind that since these aren’t the best graphics ever, you may be able to see through a wall every now and then, but it’s nothing significantly noticeable.
Jet Moto 2 continues the hyper-intensive style of racing that helped to make the original so good. The game gives you about three tracks to start out on but more of them open up as you progress through each racing stage, each one proving to be more exciting than the previous. You may find that the three initial tracks that you are given access to are a breeze to race through but wait until you get to the unlockable ones, that’s where the real challenge and fun begins. Just don’t forget to change the difficulty level to the highest one you can find.
These races give way to loads of high value entertainment. You will find yourself racing at unbelievable speeds, crashing on more than one occasion, smashing into other opponents and thus knocking them off their bike while you gain a higher position in the race. You can perform quadruple flips, barrel rolls, power grip around tight turns, and even jump insane gaps with your turbo charges. Two player co-op mode is a blast as well if you’re looking for some addictive two-player fun.
The controls take some getting used to if you haven’t already played the first Jet Moto. Keep in mind this game involves intense races on insanely-fast hover bikes amidst some of the most dangerous racing environments imaginable, resulting in some very fluid control mechanics. Maybe a little too fluid. Don’t be surprised if you end up crashing into stuff on your first six to eight attempts at this.
The Jet Moto series was part of a generation of video games that presented many unique and groundbreaking titles of all gaming genres across the board, ranging from Tomb Raider, Twisted Metal, and Resident Evil to name a few. The Jet Moto series was part of that generation and it shows even in this first sequel. If you’re looking for perfection in hover bike racing, then you should try out Jet Moto 3. Jet Moto 2 is good enough the bridge the gap with cooler racing stages and better bikes than the first.
