Taylor Momsen, star of “Gossip Girl” and blatant teen attention-monger, finally did what everyone knew she was gearing up for: She got naked (partially, she flashed her breasts) at a concert in New York City. In her neverending effort to be more exhibitionistic than Miley Cyrus, who Taylor Momsen views as repressed, she has done something Cyus hasn’t even done for an audience. Even if one has no real idea that Taylor Momsen has a band (the Pretty Reckless), or that she is an actress (“Gossip Girl”), one still would recognize the name for all the media attention she gets for the brazen things she says and does, scandalizing many in her very open attempts to sexualize herself. She’s been doing it for years. The problem for most (just like the problem now of her flashing her breasts), as pointed out by The Hollywood Gossip, is that Taylor Momsen is 17.
The bottom line: nobody is shocked anymore at the antics the cute little naive child that became famous as Cindy Lou Who in Ron Howard’s “How The Grinch Stole Christmas.” Although many will write about it (witness: this piece), visit YouTube to see the video, and discuss it via Twitter, television, radio, and in church youth groups, the only thing truly shocking about Taylor Momsen’s boob flash is that it didn’t happen sooner.
And in the interest of full disclosure, the 17-year-old did have black pasties on, so, technically, she wasn’t completely bare-breasted in her momentary flash. Still, the video of the concert breast flash went to Twitter and on YouTube.
Taylor Momsen is also on the cover of Revolver magazine. As revealed by SheKnows.com, the 17-year-old is dressed in black lingerie and flashing pistols. She opened up to the magazine about watching porn, what she likes and dislikes about the genre, and girls masturbating.
The teen has been candid about her thoughts on sex since becoming a teen. And she dislikes being compared to Miley Cyrus, who is also 17 and constantly under fire for her sexualized marketing of herself. Just after her video “Miss Nothing” was criticized for being age-inappropriately risque (just after Miley Cyrus’ “Can’t Be Tamed” was given the same treatment), Taylor Momsen told FHM UK in July, “I’m not looking to be Miley f***ing Cyrus. I don’t care about the fame. I do it because I love music. I like making records and if people like them, then we’ll go along for the ride.”
Miley Cyrus says much the same as she continues to wear less, be more outspoken, and attempts to distance herself from her Disney/Hannah Montana past.
The Parents Teaching Council recently condemned Miley Cyrus for her video of “Who Owns My Heart?” (partially dressed, rolling on a bed, partying) and three “Glee” cast members for their racy photos in GQ magazine, noting that they are not the best role models for teens. The PTC condemned Momsen for the Revolver cover and article as well, noting that the teen was contributing to “kids’ overexposure to hyper-sexualized media content, which has been linked to depression, eating disorders, and sexual risk-taking.”
The PTC will no doubt have something to say about the star of “Gossip Girl” flashing her breasts in public.
Because, in the end, Taylor Momsen is considered underage, no matter how old she wants to pretend to be. But to say that her latest revelation (now on video) is shocking would be a sensationalist overstatement. Shock requires stimuli (no matter its age content) to be unexpected.
The video of the Taylor Momsen breast flash follows (sanitized for your protection — and because it is against the law to knowingly disseminate naked images of underage individuals).
