I am in love with frozen yogurt, not the sweet flavored, but the sweet/tart yogurt that you find at Pinkberry or Yagoot.
My husband picked up the October issue of SOKY and noticed an article on Stakz Self Serve Frozen Yogurt. We looked for it and it was close by so we stopped to investigate. The entire store was brightly colored, orange, green and yellow walls and simple colorful tiles curving along one side. It was like a party room!
We were invited to move along the curved tile wall and sample the yogurt flavors available. There were about 12 or 15 flavors and we filled the small paper sample cups ourselves. The sweet yogurt was wonderful, but I was looking for my favorite tart flavor and did find two tart flavors, California Tart and Raspberry Tart. They offer No Sugar Added Tahitian Vanilla, fat free, lactose free and gluten free flavors of yogurt!
In all I sampled four flavors. A peanut butter flavor, a triple chocolate and the two tart flavors. I believe my husband sampled most of the flavors. We were in frozen yogurt heaven! All the frozen yogurt we sampled was creamy, smooth and has a full flavor.
There was only one size styrofoam cup, a large one, to fill. The frozen yogurt is sold by the ounce so I wanted to be careful not to overfill it. But, since there is not a place in Dayton, OH where I can buy it, I filled the cup pretty full.
I then moved to the next area where there are dozens of toppings. One whole group is dry toppings, such as sprinkles, chips, granola, various candies. My husband tried a bit of most of them, but I moved directly to the fresh fruit. I picked raspberries, blackberries and kiwi from the dozen or so choices. Bananas are cut upon request.
The two large cups of frozen yogurt with the toppings came to $12 and some change. It’s only $0.45 an ounce. We took our prizes to one of the spotless tables and enjoyed a great late afternoon snack.
There were several people working and they were very helpful. We inquired about the availablity of this shop elsewhere but it is unique. This is the only shop. It is new and the California Tart yogurt that I chose was the newest flavor. The cashier was kind enough to model for my photos how to fix a sample.
The entire store was spotless when we were there. The bins were clean and the toppings sorted correctly. The fruit was fresh and appealing. The decor was bright and cheerful. There were tables outside as well as inside.
I would give it five out of five stars.
