I should have known better. I was sitting there looking at the computer screen and the “Fun Things To Do At Wal-Mart” mass email I had received and got a brilliant idea. Halloween was just around the corner and I wanted to go to our little local store to look at sound effects CDs and I wanted to look for new Halloween prank ideas.
My mom took me there and she decided to shop elsewhere in the store. I said “OK” and was left to my own devices. That was when I spotted some very realistic looking, flocked, life-sized tarantula spiders! I was an adult at this point and should have known better but I could not resist. I picked up a handful of them and walked around the store with them. Every once in a while I would fling one over an aisle and walk away quickly.
This went on and a few people realized they were not real and laughed nervously. My fun ended when I flung one over an aisle and heard my mother start cursing a blue streak. This woman is terrified to death of spiders. She caught me red handed as the spider flinging culprit because I had misjudged her hasty exit down the aisle and she caught me trying to get away to act like it wasn’t me.
I don’t recommend this by the way, because someone can get into serious trouble doing something like this. However because the local store people know me pretty well, that’s the only reason I got away with my version of a Halloween prank.
