The Ferndale Public Library is closed, due to water damage from a faulty water pump hose that rained water from the upstairs level to the level below. But fear not, although some walls and desks are damaged, the book collection remains intact. Ferndale Public Library officials want to assure patrons that books may still be returned at the outdoor library drop boxes on the east side of the building, which were not damaged by water. It is not known yet when the library will re-open for business, but it is estimated to be within this week. In the meantime, library patrons area invited to check out other local libraries: Royal Oak Public Library, Berkley Public Library, Huntington Woods Public Library, Oak Park Public Library and Hazel Park Memorial Library. Stay tuned for updates at the Ferndale Public Library page here. We wish our local librarians and library staff all the best in their clean-up endeavors and thank them for their diligence.
