Some of the best ways to reward yourself for losing weight are things that can be part of a healthy lifestyle. Does that mean you should only occasionally reward yourself with food or ditch food rewards all together? Not necessarily. Sometimes using expensive but healthy foods as a reward can keep you on track and mentally satisfied as well!
According to Off The Couch! magazine by Oxygen, some people reach their fitness and weight loss goals by setting up a reward scale. For example, if they get to 165 pounds, they earn a day at the spa. If they get to 140 pounds, they earn a new outfit.
Some people like to be rewarded for each and every pound they lose. It really depends on how much weight you have to lose and how long it takes you to lose weight.
Keep a reward chart in your bedroom with boxes that track your starting weight and goal weight. Add a smiley face sticker or just fill in the squares that represent each pound lost.
Write down the rewards or “prizes” you earn next to each box. Weigh yourself every day.
You may want to earn little rewards for each box but bigger rewards for making five pound or 10 pound goals. Just seeing the boxes get filled in can be motivation enough for some people!
Don’t forget to have rewards for maintaining your weight loss after you reach your ultimate weight loss goal.
Here are some suggestions for small, big and huge rewards for meeting your weight loss goals:

If you are on a tight budget, be creative about your weight loss rewards. Enlist the help of a loved one who can give you a massage. Or, just enjoy a hot bath with no distractions. Borrowing magazines, books and special movies from the library can be just as much of a reward as buying them! Seek out other free weight loss rewards.
