Planning your reception is probably the most stressful and overwhelming part of planning your wedding, it’s also where a major portion of the money is spent and wedding favors are one of those little money spending details. Favors can be useless but there is a way to make these attractive pieces worth your time and money as well as a keepsake for your guest to treasure forever and ever. Most weddings have them whether it’s in the form of a place card or photo holder, favor box or a simple matchbox, the question is, are they worth it.
One might say wedding favors are useless trinkets, such as special napkins detailed with your name and wedding date or favor boxes that will go by the wayside once your guests get them home or even before they get home. The option not to have them can be a money saver and instead altering to do just an elegant centerpiece with linen draped tables and beautiful chairs is all you really need (besides the food, drinks, dj & other equipment) for a beautiful no favor reception. On the other hand, should you decided to have favors, I say let them be favors that can be used over and over again by your guest, for an example there’s a favor shaped as an ornament but it is a place card or photo holder but can be turned into an actual christmas ornament and hung on a tree for years to come; there’s also many other useful favors such as soap, coasters for drinks, wine bottle openers, candles and picture frames. Nevertheless I say it’s your day and you can have them there just to look fabulous.
The bottom line is, if you can’t find favors that will be worthwhile and used then don’t waste your money for what your guest will throw away but if you choose to have them make sure that your guest will definitely be using them.
