Safe Bets – If there is such a thing in this league of parity…
Jets – New York has proven they are an elite team in the tough AFC. They will win Thursday against Cincinatti.
Patriots – Battling with the Jets for the conference and the division. I think the Lions will make a game of it on Thanksgiving day but the Patriots are too good. The Lions are really missing Jahvid Best.
Steelers – You have to feel bad for the Bills. Just as soon as they get something going they have to face the leagues best defense. Don’t expect 49 points from Fitzpatrick and company this week. Expect the Steelers to win.
Closer Calls – Go with your gut…
Ravens – Tampa Bay is having a great year but they haven’t beaten any of the strong teams. They find ways to win against the average teams but the buck stops in Baltimore. Ravens will win and beat the spread.
Eagles – This is a great NFC matchup in Chicago. Both are good teams and playing well. I pick Philadelphia for one reason, the Vick factor. Don’t expect great numbers but watch for him to somehow lead his team to victory just like last week in Philly. And, when the Eagles win, it will prove that Michael Vick is the NFL’s MVP.
Browns – Carolina’s defense is very good. John Fox is auditioning for his next gig. The Browns will win but it will be closer than you think, and oh yeah, take the under.
Rams – The St. Louis Rams are a fun team to watch this year. Every game is close. It hasn’t always worked out but they have been in position to win nearly every week. This week they will get it done late. Watch for an exciting finish in Denver.
49ers – San Fran laid an egg for me last week; a big goose egg, but Arizona doesn’t look good either. It’s a case of who I dislike less in this game and the San Francisco 49ers are it.
Knuckle Balls – Who knows…
Titans – These teams are on a combined 7 game losing streak. It’s another game where I don’t want to pick either of them. Picking the Titans last week was one of my three missed games. But as much as I hate to count on them again, it’s better than taking the Texans. Tennessee wins in an ugly one.
Giants – Jacksonville is terrible on the road late in the season. For the Giants this is a must win after two straight division losses. The Giants need it more and they will earn it.
Falcons – Another excellent NFC matchup when the Green Bay Packers visit Atlanta. It’s a tough call but I give the edge to the Falcons at home.
Raiders – A battle of the AFC’s mediocre. Oakland and Miami are both 5-5. Take the Oakland Raiders; they looked a little less terrible last week.
Chiefs – The Seattle Seahawks will be tough at home but Dwayne Bowe is playing out of his mind for the Kansas City Chiefs. They just took apart Arizona and will handle the ‘Hawks as well.
Colts – This is the toughest game to call this week. Both teams are slightly underperforming in the tough NFC with a combined 11-10 record. Both teams need the win badly. I like San Diego because they are the hotter team right now…but Manning and the Colts are just too good at home.
Upsets – Embrace the underdog…
Cowboys – I love the way Dallas is playing. McCann’s return last week was a brilliant, heads up play. It was also an amazing return and a game changer. They are at home and playing much better under Garrett. They will upset the Saints.
Vikings – Everyone has written off Minnesota but I think Childress being fired will galvanize the Vikings the same way that Phillip’s canning did the Cowboys. Expect Brett to lead the team to victory.
