Kobe’s Week 4 Picks
Well another average week going 2-2 with my week 3 picks which makes me 6-6 on the season. Apparently Wade Phillips can motivate the Cowboys to a victory and Roy Williams can actually play in a Cowboys uniform. I can admit when I am wrong and have a big congratulation to the Cowboys for going into Houston and pulling out a big and much needed victory.
Kansas City, now setting at 3-0, gets a Kudos too because I really thought the 49ers would go in and bring the Chiefs back to earth, instead it’s the 49ers flailing at 0-3. As a Lions fan, the Chiefs gives me hope for a turn around.
Well let’s get to it for Week 4, 1st and foremost we have byes starting this week and its note worthy to mention the bye week teams: Cowboys, Chiefs, Vikings, and Buccaneers get some time off to rest.
Game # 1: Baltimore @ Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh 3-0 without Big Ben, who would have thought it. With the Defense playing lights out football and the consistent don’t beat yourself quarterback play by the Steelers they have done the unthinkable this season. That being said the Steelers are inviting their mirror image, the Ravens, into their home for what will be an absolute slug fest.
Joe Flacco found Anquan Bolden 3 times for touchdowns versus Cleveland this past weekend and looked much better than he did in the first couple games, which is a good sign for the Ravens. Imagine an offense that can score with the Defense of the Ravens, enough said.
You look at these teams and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out its going to be a slobber knocker of a game. I think the Steelers are in for a rough go this week and the Ravens win in a squeaker.
What if: If the Charlie Batch can continue to play well and the Steelers D can get to Flacco and throw him off his game the Steelers will win.
Prediction: Ravens 20 Steelers 17
Game #2: Washington @ Philadelphia
So why did the Eagles trade Donovan McNabb to the Redskins? I don’t think we will find out the real answer for some time. At the end of the day I believe Donovan has had this game circled on his calendar to show the Eagles he is still the man and will play well.
The unfortunate part of Donovan’s home coming is he will be across the field from a rejuvenated, playing out of his head, Michael Vick. Vick looks like the quarterback he was with Atlanta but better because he is passing the ball around like a mad man and really putting a strain on the Defenses he has faced because of it.
Look for the both teams to play well but the Eagles to win. I believe Donovan will play really well and look for Washington to turn it around this weekend but at this time they just don’t seem to be playing together.
What if: If the Washington Defense can contain Vick look for a Redskins victory.
Prediction: Redskins 24 Eagles 31
Game # 3: New England @ Miami
Miami lost a close one at home this past week to the self proclaimed Super Bowl Champs New York Jets. The Dolphins Offense put up big yardage numbers on a very good Defense and I expect more of the same this week. Chad Henne threw for over 350 yards and the team put up a total of 436 yards of offense.
The Patriots played a closer than expected game against the Bills but all is not well in Pats land. The Defense is young and Randy Moss is back to being the, it’s all about me, Randy Moss of old.
I expect this series to be a split between two very good teams and I think each team wins on their home turf.
What if: If Chad Henne makes bad decisions and the Miami Defense, which has been playing well, falters Tom Brady and the Pats will win.
Prediction: Patriots 24 Dolphins 32
Game #4: Houston @ Oakland
Banking on Houston coming through against Dallas didn’t work so well for me last week and I think you will see a bit of hangover this week out of the Texans. Matt Schaub came up with a less than stellar outing against Dallas and it would seem the Andre Johnson has a dinged up ankle giving him issues with coming out of his breaks.
Houston’s running game with Arian Foster has been a bit inconsistent but he has the capability to have a big game and actually had a good game versus the Cowboys last week and has potential to have a big game against Oakland’s 24 ranked run Defense.
It didn’t take long for Oakland to bench Jason Campbell for Bruce Gradkowski who seems to have the swagger to lead this Raiders team. With Bruce, Darren McFadden seems to have rejuvenated himself and been very consistent rushing the ball well this season.
With the Raiders playing at home and Houston’s hangover I see this game being tightly played but in the end won by the Raiders.
What if: If Houston can put the Cowboy game behind them and the Defense can keep McFadden under wraps they can come out of the Black Hole with a victory.
Prediction: Texans 20 Raiders 27
