The New Orleans Saints were brought back to earth in JAMcLynne’s NFL Power Rankings for week 4 of the 2010 NFL season. Last week, the Saints were ranked #1 a full 8 points ahead of the next closest team. Then Atlanta paid a visit to the Superdome, and knocked the Saints off of their perch. The Saints now sit neck and neck with the New England Patriots, who also had a sub par performance against the Buffalo Bills.
Making a jump in this week’s NFL power ranking score are the New York Jets and the Philadelphia Eagles. Both teams saw strong performances at the quarterback position. The Pittsburgh Steelers had a solid win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Yet, the Steelers saw little movement in the power rankings. A lot of teams in the NFL showed improved offensive power, especially those teams in the lower tier of the rankings. Therefore, a lot of the weaker teams showed better numbers, but the overall order did not change much.
I was not too happy about how the power rankings program came up with this weeks rank of the Chicago Bears. A 3-0 team with a win against Green Bay at home, and you would have though the Bears would rank a little higher. But look at the tumble the Packers took! Maybe the power rankings software was a little too hard on the Packers.
Here are the Week 4 picks by JAMcLynne NFL Power Ranking Software
Winner in Bold
New York Jets 88.09 at Buffalo Bills 47.28
Jets look to keep rolling in the AFC East, and they probably will keep rolling in Buffalo.
Cincinnati Bengals 68.65 at Cleveland Browns 41.05
The battle for Ohio will go to the Bengals. However, the Browns have shown some improvement in recent weeks.
Seattle Seahawks 54.38 at St Louis Rams 32.02
Seattle is another team that has been steady in its climb in the NFL Power Rankings. Look for them to beat the Rams.
Carolina Panthers 55.23 at New Orleans Saints 96.41
Carolina hopes to have the same success as the Atlanta Falcons had last week. Not likely.
Baltimore Ravens 82.94 at Pittsburgh Steelers 82.82
Two tough defenses square off. This will be low scoring and close. Pick ’em
Denver Broncos 69.34 at Tennessee Titans 70.55
Another pair of close teams get together in Tennessee. Home field advantage goes to the Titans, and that is about it.
Detroit Lions 33.04 at Green Bay Packers 70.09
An NFC central rivalry should end up as a win for the Packers. Look for the Packers to rebound from the recent Monday Night Football loss to the Bears.
San Francisco 49ers 60.45 at Atlanta Falcons 84.44
Atlanta should not have an emotional let down after defeating the Super Bowl Champs. Look for the Falcons to beat the Niners at home.
Indianapolis Colts 94.45 at Jacksonville Jaguars 55.52
Indianapolis’s passing game should be able to pick apart the Jaguars defense for an easy win, as they continue to get back on track.
Houston Texans 78.24 at Oakland Raiders 37.79
Houston travels to California to take on the Raiders. The Raiders have not shown much, while the Houston Texans are a slightly improved team. Look for the Texans to take out the Raiders.
Washington Redskins 61.61 at Philadelphia Eagles 90.51
Donovan vs. Michael. Now we see if the Eagles made the right choice in letting Donovan go. It will come down to the this game, and if Michael Vick has another hot game, look for the Eagles to roll.
Arizona Cardinals 66.95 at San Diego Chargers 86.43
Arizona has not shown too much this year and should lose in San Diego.
Chicago Bears 69.4 at New York Giants 71.62
The Giants have been unimpressive, and now they have the Bears coming to town. I honestly do not know why the Bears are not ranking higher. With the way the Giants have been playing lately, especially on defense, look for the Bears to eek another win out at New Meadowlands Stadium. Maybe next week will rank the Bears higher if they get the win in New York.
New England Patriots 96.85 at Miami Dolphins 67.08
A Monday Night Football battle in the AFC East. The Patriots should be a winner, but they should watch out, since their defense has been giving up a lot of points to weaker rated opponents.
