Paradise Picks is a collection of 5 low value players who are decent spot starts for owners dealing with bye week gaps or injuries. These players are high risk/high reward plays that may be the difference between a win and a loss.
Jordan Shipley vs. Miami
Shipley had a breakout game week 7 against Atlanta, catching 6 balls for 131 yards and a touchdown. He is emerging as a solid slot receiver for Carson Palmer, and should continue to see single coverage as Miami focuses on covering Owens and Ochocinco outside. Look for Shipley to hit paydirt again this week.
Darren Sproles vs. Tennessee
The Chargers have struggled to run the ball this season while the Titan’s defense has the sixth best rush defense, allowing only one rushing TD so far in 2010. If San Diego has any hope of beating the Titans this week, they will need to get Sproles involved in the passing game out in space as they did last week. If you are needing a bye week replacement, Sproles is a decent flex or low end #2 RB.
Kevin Walter vs. Indianapolis
The Texans were able to score at will against he Colts week one, especially on the ground with Arian Foster. I look for this MNF match up to be high scoring, however I think Houston will be forced to pass more as they play catch up. Look for Walter to catch at least 5 balls for 50 yards and a touchdown.
Josh Freeman vs. Arizona
The Tampa Bay Bucs have been a surprise this year, posting a 4-2 record in the highly competitive NFC south. One of the big reasons why the team has been successful is the strong play of second year QB Josh Freeman. Although Freeman is young, he makes good decisions with the ball while limiting his turnovers. If you are in need of a bye week quarterback, Freeman is a solid option against a team that has given up 10 passing TD’s.
Denver Defense vs. San Francisco
My sleeper defense for week 8 is the lowly Denver Broncos. Yes, the same Denver Broncos who gave up an amazing 59 points at home against the Raiders week 7. Here’s my logic: The 49ers are playing terrible football and are starting Troy Smith at Quarterback. Also, I think the Broncos will respond from having their pride smashed by McFadden and co. This is going to be an ugly game played by two terrible teams, leading me to believe that the Broncos defense will put up decent fantasy points.
