Many couples would like to getaway for the weekend but they cannot afford to getaway. So why not plan a weekend getaway from the comforts of their homes? Because couples do not think that they can create a weekend getaway. After all, the whole purpose of having a getaway is to get away from everything including the house. Well, those couples are mistaken. It is possible to turn your home into a getaway for a fraction of the cost of going to an expensive location. Here are some suggestions for turning your home into a weekend getaway.
When planning your getaway go to the store and pick up some of the essentials (candles, scented lotions, massage oils and romantic foods for dinner). You can even get some Christmas lights and satin sheets because they give a ‘romantic’ feel to your getaway. The next order of business is to tell your friends and family what you are planning, so they will not disturb you on your getaway. Finally, turn off of connections to the outside world such as cell phones, computers, laptops, and televisions (except if you are planning on watching movies at some point this weekend). Now you are ready to begin your weekend getaway!
If you like to watch movies, then go to your local video store and rent some. Then return home and prepare dinner with your spouse. Have dinner and a movie in your bedroom. Dim the lights so you can get the feel of a theatre and have candles lit so you can have the feel of a romantic resturant.
Once your dinner and a movie is over then pamper each other with a deep massage. You’ll be surprised how tense you both are after working all week. Feeling relaxed yet?
The next day (or anytime during your getaway) take a stroll through the park. Casually walk, do not walk at a fast pace. Take time to notice things such as any bodies of water, the trees, or even the flowers. Hold hands while walking and talk about anything. You could even bring a picinic basket and a blanket and have a picinic. The point here is to enjoy what is around you and to be alone with your spouse.
If you are lucky enough to have a pool or hot tub, create your own spa. Set up the patio furniture and have a moonlit dinner. Then perhaps go for a midnight swim. Or you can even set up a fire and eat by the fireplace. Don’t be afraid to cuddle with your spouse. Often times, adults forget the little gestures because they are often consumed with everyday responsibilities.
Take a bike ride through the country. Enjoy the sites and each other’s company. Or you can go for a hike. Maybe one night you can even set up the tent and have a campout in your backyard. Gaze up at the stars and let your spouse hold you close.
Pamper each other all weekend long by giving massages, foot rubs, or neck rubs. Don’t be afraid to break out those champagne flutes you got as a wedding gift. Treat yourself to a special weekend with your spouse. That is, afterall, the whole point of a weekend getaway.
