What is your favorite breed of dog? Four dog owners explain their favorites, and why. Part three of the series.
Mutts – Pointer, Aussie Cattle Dog, Brittany, Germain Short Hair, Lab, Coon Hound
“We have a weakness for homeless dogs that need a home. Our dogs didn’t come with papers, but Suzee seems to be pretty much Pointer. Loves to hunt and chase birds, rabbits, and squirrels. She’s quick and agile as heck. Affectionate and smart.
I f we did a DNA test on Dunkin the list could be long. Auusie Cattle Dog, hound, Brittany, Germain Short Hair are all possibles. Very smart, but stubborn and independent. We love him though!
Our late Trevor was Lab and Coon Hound. Not terribly bright, but the nicest dog a person could ever want. Loved every person and dog”. Mark Balinski
Golden Retrievers and Terrier Chihuahua
“During my life time thus far I’ve had 5 Mutts and 5 Goldens and I love them equally. My current canine family consists of two Goldens and my Terrier/Chihuahua mix. She is bold, spicy, strong and full of life and I love her little white feet! My Goldens are nothing but pure joy and love. While I love all animals, my vote for this discussion would be Goldens, Terriers and Chihuahuas”. Kevin Contessa
“I’m partial to the Australian Shepherd, although my last 2 are officially Mini Aussies. VERY smart and I do agility competition with them. My oldest is now 14 1/2 years old and “regular” size, about 19″. My youngest is at the low end at just 14″. They are only registered with Stockdog registry, as I got them both from horse breeders. They can do just about everything and I love them dearly”. Deb Rickard
“I am one of the millions that love labs! We have 2 purebred yellow labs and 2 black mixes (rescues). They are so great! They all get along famously, they love people and are great with kids. They are so smart and obedient and laid back. We live in the country where they have 2 fenced acres to romp and play in anytime. I am sure this helps. Only downside…the shedding” Terri Huntley
