Rachel McAdams hit the television screen in 2001 by acting in a few TV movies and series. She played in the popular series “The Famous Jett Jackson” as Hannah Grant and in “Earth: Final Conflict” as Christine Bickwell. She got her first big break in the film “The Hot Chick” where she played a girl that gets trapped in Rob Schneider’s body. It was an interesting role that could make or break the young star. It turned out to be a positive role for her because it landed her several other roles in major motion pictures and McAdams has been on a quest to the top ever since.
McAdams scored the role of high school queen bee, Regina George, in “Mean Girls” starring Lindsay Lohan, and played the part very well, which likely led to her leading role as Allie in”The Notebook” the same year. Her role as Allie opened up numerous doors for the young star. It made more than $13 million in it’s opening week and that level of success made all the main actors and actresses very marketable for other films.
McAdams has played leading roles in various other films like “Wedding Crashers” (Claire Cleary), “Red Eye,” (Lisa Reisert) “The Lucky Ones,” (Colee Dunn) “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” (Clare Abshire) and “Sherlock Holmes” (Irene Adler). She’s been in many films since her debut in 2001 and her career is still picking up speed.
Present and Future
Rachel McAdams is the star of “Morning Glory” which will hit theaters on Nov. 10, 2010. The comedy follows the life of Becky, a successful TV producer who plans to turn a failing morning-television show into a success. The anchors (Diane Keaton, Harrison Ford) of the show are constantly in arguments with one another and this poses a vast comedic challenge for the big-time producer. This film looks like like it will be a huge hit with fans, and a great blockbuster for the upcoming holiday season.
McAdams has two films (“The Vow,” “Midnight in Paris”) currently in post-production and is in the process of filming a so-far unnamed sequel to the initial Sherlock Holme’s film, as well as, a currently untitled project by Terrence Malick. The Sherlock Holmes sequel is set for 2011 and the untitled Malick project will be released some time in 2012.
Rachel McAdams has been doing an excellent job of keeping her personal life a secret. This Canada-native holds strong to her morals and maintains a good public image. She abandoned a shoot for vanity fair with Keira Knightley and Scarlett Johansson because she refused to go nude for the photo shoot. McAdams is not unlike other Hollywood sensations like Johnny Depp and Reese Witherspoon, who do their best to keep their personal lives private. It’s unclear what Rachel McAdams will be up to after 2012, but it is certain that fans can expect great things from this beautiful young Canadian actress.
