If you are like a lot of Americans you may be a fan of reality TV. You may have even gone as far as to audition. But before you jump on that next plane or pack into the car you should know what to expect when auditioning for your favorite reality show. Here are some general guidelines:
The first thing you want to do when getting ready to audition for any show is be prepared. Check with show’s website. You want to know exactly where the casting call is; as well as what time to line up. You also want to make sure you have all the necessary paper work completed. Many shows may or may not have you fill out an application ahead of time. By checking ahead you make sure you that you will even meet your favorite show’s eligibility requirements.
One the day of the audition you want to make sure that you get there with plenty of time to spare. Lining up as soon as it is allowed is your best bet. While you want to dress to impress one could consider this similar to job interview you also want to make sure that you are comfortable as you could be standing and possibly in the elements for long amounts of time. It may also be helpful to take along some snacks as well as some water. In addition things to think about bringing include a pen, photograph of yourself as well as a camera
When you do finally get you’re turned with casting directors, expect it to go quick depending on the show there may be hundreds of people there all wanting to get on the show. Also, don’t be afraid to be yourself. Sit up straight, smile, listen and show them your personality. You may end up going through casting in groups; if this is the case don’t be afraid to speak up. Also, you want to if you can try and find an angle, something in your story that makes you unique and stand out.
You may hear that day it may be a day or two if you get a call back – you can expect that you will have to make a video tape as part of the final selection. Know that until the cameras are actually rolling there are no guarantees. It is best not to make any formal announcements until things are certain.
