Fish oil is extracted from various fatty fish like anchovies, salmon and mackerel. Fish oil contains omega-3 acids docosahexaenoic acid, also known as DHA, and elcosapentaenoic acid, or EPA. Omega-3 fatty acids can lower triglyceride levels and decrease the buildup of plaque in the arteries. Regular or daily consumption of fish oil can help lower the resting heart rate, lower blood pressure and improve the function of blood vessels. Fish oil prevents strokes and heart attacks. This useful vitamin is an anti-inflammatory and can improve joint tenderness and stiffness from arthritis.
Fish oil helps with heart health. The consumption of fish oil helps with the reduction of inflammation. It inhibits the production of prostaglandins-these substances case inflammation in the body.
Though you can consume fish oil in the form of a capsule or liquid form, vegetarians can also take this beneficial vitamin. Vegetarians can consume foods or supplements containing omega-3 fatty acid ALA. ALA is found in nuts and nut oils like flaxseed oil or English walnuts.
The dosage recommend by The American Heart Association says that adults should eat at least three ounces of fish twice a week. If fish isn’t in your diet, adults who have heart disease should consult their physician about fish oil capsules. It’s advised by The American Heart Association to not take no more than three grams of fish oil daily. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should limit and take fish oil in moderation because of the possibility of methlmercury and PCB contamination.
Visit your local supermarket or organic food store to purchase fish oil in capsule or liquid form. Don’t want the fishy burps? I recommend going to your local GNC (General Nutrition Center) and purchasing the Triple Strength Fish Oil. This product is my favorite besides the Shark Cartilage, it is purified up to seven times, to make sure you get all your ALA, EPA, and DHA needs as well as decrease the chances of the fishy burps. The Triple Strength Fish Oil capsules are lemon flavored, so no worries. The best part is that the fish smell doesn’t come through your pores!
Check your local malls to see which GNC carries Triple Strength Fish Oil near you.
