I am obsessed with Chloe Moretz. This young woman is an old soul. Born on February 10, 1997, she is all of 13 years old and makes you believe she is 13 going on 30. I first noticed her in “(500) Days of Summer,” which is one of my favorite movies. She plays the younger sister of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character, Tom Hansen. Her “older than she is” acting style strikes gold in this film and I noticed her immediately. She is a charmer and could tell Hollywood was going to embrace her warmly.
I saw her next in “Kick-Ass.” All I have to say about her is, AMAZING. I am so happy that her parents gave permission for her to act in this movie because she is an absolute thrill to watch. Her adult-like cadence of speech and bad-ass moves and nuances in acting-style really prove to the viewer that she is a force to be reckoned with. Acting opposite, Aaron Johnson, Moretz plays Mindy Macready, aka Hit-Girl. I did not know what to expect of her but knew with that subject of real-life superheros and her playing a superhero named, Hit-Girl, I was in good hands. The movie is now part of my Blu-Ray collection and I am not ashamed to say I have viewed it at least a dozen times since released.
Chloe Moretz has a busy schedule coming up. She currently has a movie titled, “Let Me In” which is a remake of a Swedish movie named, “Let the Right One In.” Moretz plays a young vampire who lives a secret life because she is a vampire. She befriends a young boy who is bullied in the film, played by Kodi Smit-McPhee. Although I do not have plans to see this in the theater, it is already saved on my Netflix queue, ready to be delivered as soon as it is available. I have no doubt I will be just as impressed with her acting as young vampire as I was with her role as Hit-Girl.
She is currently filming “Hugo Cabret,” which has a release date of December 9, 2011. It is directed by Martin Scorsese, which I consider to be a huge score for Moretz blooming acting resume. Jude Law, Ben Kingsley and Christopher Lee join her in this 1930s movie set in Paris.
Chloe Moretz is turning into a beautiful and talented actress and developing her skills with talented actors around her. I get very excited about young talent and it is refreshing to find a young female who takes her craft seriously. When passionate about something, it shows and she is showing it in a wonderful way. The next couple years seem to be busy ones for her and I am eager to see what’s next!
