When is enough, enough? Based on my reportings, This is the question international recording and performing artist “Notorious Coo,” asked himself after being a victim of a four car accident on a freeway off ramp in Santa Monica. The motivated young musician claims that he and his partner were routinely traveling to Santa Monica college on the morning of October 5, 2010 when they were rammed from behind by an out of control driver.
The amber alert read three car pile up on Cloverfield exit west 10 Santa Monica freeway, but what it did not reveal was that after the medics and fireman left the scene, highway patrol took over to do routine reports. Notorious Coo also known as Mark Hamilton claims from his twitter account, to have been the passenger in a black 97′ Mercedes E320, and was rudely demanded on the scene to get back into the car by highway patrol. Being severely injured and somewhat discombobulated Notorious Coo complied along with his partner but both were unsure as to why they as victims were receiving such harsh treatment. Notorious Coo claims that other victims within this same accident were allowed to remain outside of their vehicles and assess the damage. The patrol officers sporadically came back in forth to the vehicle which Notorious and his partner were awaiting in and took down minuscule bits of information pertaining to the accident, but by Notorious Coo’s claim the officers were more interested in his personal information and why he was not carrying any valid form of identification. After roughly minutes of this feudal exchange officers approached the vehicle and demanded that Notorious Coo exit the vehicle and put his hands behind his head. Confused and still slightly shaken up from the accident that had just occurred less than 20 minutes ago Notorious Coo complied.
The officers arrested Notorious Coo on the spot without any information or indication as to why he was being taken into custody. Once inside the officers vehicle the officer proceeded to inform Notorious Coo that based off of the information he had provided him that a warrant had come up matching his name in the system for the charge of Grand Theft Auto. Coo was elated “this is ridiculous he proclaimed to the officer please make sure that you have the correct person.” Coo was informed that because he did not have valid identification that he would be taken into custody anyway.
Hearing this offense on American soil seems to me to be a direct attack against American people, It raises several questions for me that I am not able to understand, for instance, why was it necessary for the officer to run a search for warrants for a pass anger who was clearly a victim in an auto accident? Why was Notorious Coo not given due process before arrested and taken into custody? Has the law been turned around on us and no longer here to protect the same people who established it but to enslave us? I can only wonder what happened in this situation.
Currently Notorious Coo is out on bail awaiting his court date for arraignment. He proclaims that “I am innocent and have done nothing illegal, so why was he treated like a criminal when he was a victim?” Is there a point where the same system devised to protect us begins to work against us eventually overthrowing our authority over it?
