“Where’s my Farmville haunted house?” Is a question on manyFarmville players minds this morning. Teaser screens of the buildable haunted house had players anticipating the Halloween-themed release. The spooky building was made available, but not everyone received them before Zynga stopped the launch. Farmville players are also noticing Halloween candy on their feeds, with no where to put it.
Why did Zynga stop the Farmville haunted house roll-out? The haunted houses were causing “your game is out of sync with the server” messages, preventing farmers from getting into their farms. Community Manager Grimwell posted on the issue in the official Farmville forums:
“Haunted Houses are currently deactivated. We are going to make sure everything is rock solid before we open them back up. Those of you who didn’t get one yet will have a shot in the morning – we do sleep from time to time :P”
“Thanks for your patience! “
Since turning off the haunted house function allowed players to get back into to their farms, wither and pet hunger has been turned back on.
Will I still get my Farmville Haunted House? According to the above message from Zynga, yes.
Of course, many Farmville players have already noted that it is morning already and they still don’t have a haunted house. That indicates that whatever bugs were causing farms to go down haven’t been fixed.
Players who remember the Mustang wrangling roll-out and take-back may be afraid that they will miss out. This resulted in many farmer’s neighbors getting a Mustang, while those that didn’t receive the wrangling message or had a malfunction missed out. Zynga pulled the Mustang from the game–letting those who had one keep the horse–with no other option for other players to win or buy one. There has been no indication that the Farmville haunted house will suffer the same fate.
While waiting for the haunted house, what am I supposed to do with Farmville Halloween candy? The missing haunted houses are causing a little confusion over Halloween candy. Many players think that is where collected Halloween candy is stored, but Farmville has yet to release the actual candy bucket. So collected candy from the feed and haunted houses will have to be stored in the gift box, until a container is released.
It is slightly strange that Farmville activated the haunted house trick-or-treat function, without a place for players to put them. In the past they have released items and later added functionality and build new aspects of the game from them. For example nursery barns. When Farmville initially released the constructable building, foals/calves could be placed inside, but the ‘grow-up’ feature was added later.
