This article probably won’t save your life, nor change it drastically, but it may impart some hard won wisdom to make life a bit more peaceful and quiet. Barking dogs aren’t fun. They’re surely not quiet, and never make for peaceful encounters.
We’ve all suffered a neighborhood dog who keeps on barking away. If you think there’s no solution, and refuse to spend good money on a gadget like Bark Off – which some say doesn’t even work – do what I do. Whistle a happy tune for those wildly barking doggies.
Whistle silences the bark? Yep. In particular, I’ve used it almost daily on two incredibly cute, but overly bark happy pooches. Now, instead of cringing when I walk past their yard, and bracing myself for a howling bark attack, I give them a whistling concert. Within a second or two, they stop their canine caterwauling and stare up at me quizzically.
The first time I tried the whistle bark cure, it worked. It worked so well, and so quickly, I tried it the next time. My whistling soothed the savage growling, and I knew I was on to something.
These dogs are little guys. Though I can’t say exactly what breed the barkers be, they look to be a terrier mix. If it was much bigger dogs yowling away at me, my whistling treatment might be ignored, or at least much less effective.
So the next time you’re faced with a few four legged yelpers in your neck of the woods, or if the dog down the block simply keeps barking balefully at you, give em a few whistles for good measure. It might not work as well as it has for my boldly barking beasts, but at least you won’t hear them as loudly as you whistle away the tension.
