Glee with it’s musical numbers that include songs from Broadway, the classic songs from the 80’s, and today’s hits thrown in, is not only a comedy but a lesson in life.
Who hasn’t had a gleek moment in they’re life when you wanted or tried to be cool, fit in, or just be noticed? I’m betting we all knew kids like this in high school or maybe you were one. Rachel and Kurt’s main ambition in life may be to be “Stars” in they’re future, but first they have to make it through high school.
What girl do you know didn’t have a secret crush on the cutest boy in school who also happens to be the football teams quarterback. Puck with his bad boy persona, who at times shows his softer side is the epitome of every parent’s worst nightmare and every young girls fantasy. Not only are these boys good at sports but can sing and dance as well as the gleeks.
Quinn Fabray started out as the head of the cheer leading squad, with all the meanness and bitchiness that entails. Yet, when she found herself unexpectedly pregnant and was not only kicked off the cheer leading squad but also kicked out of her parents home, she found a new sense of friendship with the gleeks who stood by her, and became her true friends and family.
Then there’s Mercedes who’s soulful tunes inspire us, and Artie with his deep voice and although is the only cast member in a wheelchair, never has a poor me type attitude, but is always there to encourage everyone, no matter the circumstance. Tina, Mike, Brittany, and Santana round out the ensemble and the show would not be complete without each of they’re individual talents.
Sue Sylvester may be the coach we love to hate. She terrorizes the students, blackmails the principal, and will find ways to make anyone who’s life is happy, as miserable as possible. Yet, once in awhile Sue can show a softer, sometimes even vulnerable side.
Will Shuester rounds out the cast as the once gleek, now turned Spanish teacher and director of the Glee Club. Last season brought a love triangle for the Glee director with his evil wife Terri and the sweet, but highly OCD counselor Emma. When the season ended he had divorced Terri and the on again, off again relationship with Emma was at a stalemate, leaving one to wonder what will season two bring in the love life of Will?
The hate-hate relationship between Sue and Will, with the cutting barbs and backstabbing is not only an interesting side story, but also the heat of the show.
The Glee cast in my opinion got robbed at the Emmy’s winning only four. I’m sure though that this will not stop the little show that can.
In, the season finale ” Bohemian Rhapsody” was being sung by Vocal Adrenaline, as Quinn was giving birth to her baby girl, making for a majestic performance, by both cast and crew.
Whether you were the cool kid, the geek, the hot football player, or the cheerleader in high school. Glee will make you laugh, cry, sing, and sometimes even dance and totally inspire you.
If you’ve been watching you are probley waiting patiently for season two, to begin. If you haven’t watched it, run out and buy or rent season one immediately and watch it. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
