Halo: Reach is set to be the best game of the year, but many question whether or not Reach will win the actual Game of the Year title. 2010 has seen the launch of some pretty awesome games, but Halo: Reach will win the 2010 GOTY for several reasons.
What Halo game hasn’t been?
Halo: Reach will most likely win the 2010 Game of the Year award for one simple reason; what Halo FPS hasn’t won game of the year? Halo: CE received several GOTY awards and won up to 48 awards, Halo 2 won Console Game of the Year and several others, Halo 3 won Game of the Year from several major publications – Edge, Gametrailers.com, Geezer, IGN, etc. – and with a GOTY track record like that, Halo: Reach is sure to follow suit for 2010 Game of the Year.
Halo: Reach has the most playability of 2010
Have you seen the features that Bungie somehow managed to pack into Halo: Reach? Halo series in the past have been mostly known for their online gameplay, but Halo: Reach will give Halo fans the most features ever packed into a single game. Halo: Reach will feature space combat, Matchmaking Campaign, Firefight, Forge 2.0, the Arena, Theatre 2.0, and lots of other cool added features. No other game released in 2010 will be as versatile, have as much playability, and be as inclusive as Halo: Reach.
It’s the last frickin’ Halo game
If sympathy counts for anything, the Swan Song to the Halo series has got to count for something and if Halo: Reach was a complete dud, it’d still probably win GOTY due to it being the last Halo game. I just don’t see how fans, bloggers, and game publications would allow Bungie to leave the gaming scene after a decade of awesome work without leaving with the crown. What game would rob Halo: Reach of its departing crown? God of War 3, Mass Effect 2, Little Big Planet 2? I don’t think so.
