We live in a world that is saturated with dogs. Dogs are everywhere these days, even in stores. People love their dogs. They walk them, they bathe them, they feed them, they sometimes dress them. They take them to the vet. They take them to the dentist. People teach their dogs tricks. There are awards shows that feature dogs doing tricks. Some dogs are trained to help the sick. Some dogs are trained to sniff out drugs or bombs. Dogs are excellent companions for some people.
But there is a flip side to this. There are people who do not love dogs, do not want a dog, do not dream of dogs, and do not want the responsibility that owning a dog brings with it. They don’t like dog hair in their house or car or on their clothes. They don’t want to walk a dog three or four times a day. They don’t want to pick up poop. They don’t want to listen to dogs barking. They don’t like germ/feces-filled dog kisses. They don’t like how dogs smell. They don’t like how dogs slobber. They don’t like how dogs jump up on them.
Now this is not to say that these people who do not love dogs are wishing them any harm. They just want to be left alone without dogs in a peaceful, clean environment. So all of the dog lovers who think non-dog lovers are evil people don’t need to over-react.
Some people should not be allowed to own dogs. The owners who let their dogs bark incessantly for all to hear should have their pets taken away. If they don’t mind having their peace constantly disturbed, let them keep their dogs indoors next to them at all times so that non-dog lovers don’t have their peace constantly disturbed. After all, the annoyances that come with owning a dog should be suffered by the dog’s owners, not everyone around them.
And then there are the dog owners who don’t pick up after their dogs. Most dog owners will not own up to this, but there is usually a lot of dog poop in grassy areas whenever there are dogs around. It seems as though some dog owners think it’s okay for everyone to endure that disgusting part of owning a dog since defecating is a natural act. Those dog owners should have their pets locked in the house with them so they can enjoy nature at its finest all the time without leaving the comfort of their homes.
