The rest of the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ contestants best beware; Sarah Palin will be in the crowd to support daughter Bristol Palin on the season premiere of the show. But will Sarah Palin be a fan of the first song her daughter gets down to on ‘Dancing with the Stars’, and will her endorsement be enough to help Bristol Palin win?
We are talking about a show that relies on voters to call in, and Sarah Palin’s endorsement is pretty powerful. After all, Sarah Palin pulled off the unthinkable by helping tea party-backed nominee Christine O’Donnell, an extremely right wing politician that admitted to dabbling in witchcraft, win the Republican Party Senate nomination in Delaware. But maybe if the Senate deal doesn’t work out for her, we may see Christine O’Donnell dancing to “Witchcraft” on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ someday.
Anyway, while Christine O’Donnell sharing Sarah Palin’s speaking ability, Christian values, and good looks was enough for the witchcraft dabbler to pull off such a big upset, Bristol Palin has something better going for her that could help win votes: sharing Sarah Palin’s DNA. Unfortunately, the first song Bristol Palin dances to on the premiere might be very telling about how Sarah Palin feels with her being there.
According to TMZ, Bristol Palin will Cha Cha to “Mama Told Me (Not to Come)”. And if it wasn’t difficult enough to get down to that song with her mother in the audience, she’s also going to be wearing some tear-away clothing that she’ll have to rip off with Sarah Palin watching. However, I’m sure Sarah Palin will have only nice things to say about Bristol Palin’s performance and the cheeky song choice, and her endorsement could be all that it takes to help her stay on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ for a long time.
I guess Bristol Palin must have changed her mind about trying to become famous through reality TV being a bad thing (which could be a good thing for Levi Johnston!). However, I don’t know if her mother’s star power and all the media attention she got for her breakup with Levi Johnston right before the show (which should definitely win her a few sympathy votes) will be enough to ultimately help her win.
TMZ is already reporting that Brandy looks like the one to beat, thanks to her ability to master the dance moves faster than the other contestants. However, her only famous family member that can put in a good word is Ray J, and I don’t think the sex tape star’s endorsement will trump that of Sarah Palin.
But my bet is that Jennifer Grey will dance to “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” and bring down the house in the end. Because while Sarah Palin might not be a fan of ‘Dirty Dancing’ and Bristol Palin is probably too young to have cared to ever watch it, I know plenty of women that are fans, and that iconic lift will be all it takes to carry Jennifer Grey to the top. (Now if only looking good and putting on a good show were all that it takes to be successful in politics…)
