An insider suggested to popeater.com that Teresa Giudice is feeling the effects and stress of her newfound “Housewives” fame. According to the insider, Teresa Giudice is tired of all of the media attention surrounding her finances, bankruptcy and the humiliation it is causing her and her family. This is what the insider told Popeater: “If she wasn’t on the show, this all would be much easier.” “Everything would be settled by now, but because she is now famous everyone is using the situation to get press for themselves and humiliate her and her family,” the insider added. “It’s honestly got to the point where she’s not sure if she wants to come back for another season.”
There are also reports that Teresa Giudice, as well as the other cast mates on the show, demanded a raise from Bravo. The ladies make about $3,333 per episode, but are requesting a significant pay increase, comparable to what the “Jersey Shore” cast makes, which is nearly $30,000 per episode. According to TMZ, Teresa wants a portion of DVD and merchandise sales, as well as the freedom to make more paid appearances. It is said that Teresa is prepared to walk away if her demands aren’t met.
Apparently, Teresa is not too thrilled with a portion of her Skinny Italian book deal. The New York Post reports that Bravo gets a 10 per cent royalty from the sales of Skinny Italian in exchange for promoting Teresa’s book on the show. Several scenes were filmed to help promote the book, but they never aired. However, the book was mentioned by Andy Cohen during The Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion show and Watch What Happens Live!
In addition, RadarOnline released a story that Teresa’s sister-in-law, Melissa Gorga may be joining the cast of the Real Housewives of New Jersey next season. Melissa is married to Teresa’s brother, Joe. Teresa allegedly doesn’t get along with Melissa. You can read on Melissa’s alleged Facebook vent about Teresa here. The word on the street is that Bravo is test filming with Melissa Gorga for RHONJ. It’s rumored that the relationship between the two is so tumultuous that, Teresa would not consider returning next season if Melissa joins that cast.
When things could not get any worse, Teresa and her husband were accused of bankruptcy fraud by the U.S. Bankruptcy Trustee in their case, Roberta A. DeAngelis. The trustee filed a Complaint Objecting to Discharge which alleges that the Giudices failed to report over $250,000 in assets when initially filing for bankruptcy. Part of the accusation includes failure to properly disclose the book advance that Teresa Giudice received from Skinny Italian, and ownership of the online boutique, T.G. Fabulicious.
If the federal government finds that the Giudices have committed fraud, then cancellation of their bankruptcy is only the beginning of their legal quagmire. Criminal charges of fraud and perjury could follow, resulting in prison time and hefty fines. In an article written by Rob Shuter for Popeater, a friend of Teresa Giudice says that she is “terrified” of prison and thinks that what she says (in the media) could be used against her. Shuter writes: “The reality star’s friend tells me she would rather drop out of the show altogether than end up in prison because of something she lets slip on TV. The poor thing is terrified.”
All these factors combined means that there is a strong possibility that Teresa Giudice may be leaving the show. If Teresa does leave, this may result in a huge reduction in ratings for The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Last week Bravo confirmed that Danielle Staub will not be returning to the show next season. Neither Teresa Giudice, nor Bravo network has confirmed whether these reports are true.
