Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s 9-year-old daughter, Willow, has a single out called “Whip my Hair”. Who knew that this child could rap/sing? I guess she inherited both good looks and talent.
Loving the multi-talented Smith family as I do, I gave the song a listen, expecting some bubble-gum, corny, super-cheesy pop mess geared towards teeny-boppers. Instead, I got quite a surprise. “Whip my Hair” is a hip-hopping, hard-hitting, thumping, wham-bam, in-your-face, girl-power musical tirade and the lyrics go hard: “Because we whip ’em off and we ain’t doin’ nothin’ wrong. Don’t tell me nothin’, I’m just trying to have fun”. Well okay, Willow!
She does sound a bit hardcore and grown for a little kid and I sense that somebody cranked up ye olde autotunes machine, but maybe not. If she’s a big hit, she’ll have to perform live at some point to keep her fans happy and then either the cat will be out of bag or we’ll be impressed by Willow’s mature vocal prowess.
Willow Smith is beautiful little girl who is about as cool-looking as a kid can get. Lately she’s been rocking a fierce Mohawk hairstyle and her colorful fashion style is early TLC meets a young Madonna. Gotta love a kid who’s that cool, even if she inherited her father’s ears and weighs about a buck!

“Whip my Hair” came booming out of my speakers and I almost jumped out of my seat and broke into “The Dougie”, which isn’t easy at my age. It is a total club-banger and the hook is off-the-chain!
A woman whipping her hair in any capacity can be nothing less than fierce whether it’s while dancing, being seductive or having a serious attitude with a full neck-rotation, eye-roll and tongue-cluck. If you know what’s really hood, then you know exactly what I’m sayin’.
Hey, these days anybody can have cascading and not necessarily necessary hair. I just brought myself a lion’s mane of hair (Beyonce ain’t got nothin’ on me). Now I too can whip my hair and be fierce. So whether you have curls galore, a slick look, updo, ponytail, mohawk, baldy, blunt cut, bob, braid extensions, dreadlocks or whatever, you can now whip it and whip it good. Willow Smith has given us the national anthem for our crowning glory!
For those who still believe fake hair is exclusive to a certain ethnic group, let me give you a clue and drop some knowledge. Next time you see Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson or Miley Cyrus, run your fingers through their hair and do a weave-check (http://www.bvhairtalk.com/2009/11/20/meghan-mccain-weave).
There’s nothing wrong with un-beweavable hair. Just be careful it doesn’t fly off when you whip it!
