Make a blanket on a budget! A blanket is always a nice gift to give… give the gift of warmth this winter! It is also something nice to make for yourself.
How to make a fleece blanket:
2 yards of fabric (or more)
1 roll of thread, matching to fabric
Pin back about ½ inch of fabric all around the blanket.
Sew it with your sewing machine.
It’s simple, yet a thoughtful gift to give.
In addition to making blankets, you can make throw pillows to match! Making the pillows is even easier because there is not sewing required!
Fleece throw pillows:
1 yard of fleece fabric
1 bag of pillow stuffing
First determine how large you would like your pillow to be and cut your fabric accordingly.
Place both pieces of fabric together, one on top of the other with the side you want facing out, facing up on both sides.
With your scissors, cut 1 inch wide strips of fabric along all 4 sides of the pillow. Cut the strips 1 inch thick and about 2 inches long.
With material still in the same place, tie the strips together. Take 1 strip from one side of the pillow and one strip from the other side of the pillow and tie them in a knot.
Do this on 2 sides and stop.
Take pillow filling and insert as much as you like inside of the pillow.
Then proceed tying the remaining side of the fabric together.
These make great gifts to give or great items to keep for yourself!
