When winter break comes each year, the kids are out of school and get a little bored. They know the holidays are coming, but they will still complain that they have nothing to do every day. Here are some great ideas to keep your daughter occupied and also get some quality time with her. Enjoy them while they still want to spend time with you!
Take a day and spend it at the spa with your daughter. The way you do this can depend on how much money you have to spend. You can go all out and get a massage, facial, pedicure, and the whole works. If you can’t afford this, consider a trip to the hair salon for cuts and manicures only. For a frugal spa day, go to the store and buy some new nail polish and hair dye. Take them home and enjoy a spa day together at home. You can even make your own facial masks.
Take your daughter to see a movie that you both will enjoy. Depending on her age, it can be a chick flick or a cartoon movie. Buy some popcorn and just spend time together. If you can’t afford to do this or want another idea, go out and rent some movies together. Make your own popcorn at home. You can even rent a movie you loved growing up to share with her.
Go somewhere and volunteer together. This can be a soup kitchen or a local shelter. Find something you can do together that gives back to the community. If you can’t find a place to go, search through things at home such as old clothes and toys that you can donate. Take them into together and explain to her how you are making a difference by cleaning out your old things. This also makes room for all of the gifts you know are coming for Christmas.
Play in the Snow
No matter what the age of your child is playing in the snow can still be a lot of fun. Go sledding or build a snow fort. Enjoy a snowball fight with each other. Take the time to build a snowman. Remember to take a lot of pictures of your snowman so you will have memories of the fun day you spent together. Don’t forget to make some homemade snow ice cream to enjoy together.
