This past weekend, I had the opportunity to eat Wonder Potato Bread for the first time and I’m very glad that I decided to try this product. This bread is very flavorful and it maintains a pleasant and chewy texture. One of the reasons that I tried this potato bread is because I would like to write a review of it. Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is one food writer’s product review of Wonder brand Potato Bread.
The individual slices of this bread are fairly large and wide, definitely larger than slices of regular style Wonder white bread. According to the product label, the loaf contains 16 one slice servings.
The only retail price that I have seen for Wonder Potato Bread is the sale price being charged for the item at CVS Pharmacy last week. That price is $2.99 per loaf.
This delightful brand of potato bread maintains a very pleasing texture that makes eating it an enjoyable endeavour. To me, the texture of Wonder brand Potato Bread is soft and appropriately moist and it offers a sense of chewiness and an overall mouth – feel that is very nice. While the texture of this bread is not entirely unlike that of regular Wonder White Bread, it is somewhat denser and more full bodied.
Wonder Potato Bread contains 70 calories, with 10 calories from fat, per one slice serving. This product also contains 0 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams trans fat, 1 gram total fat, 0 mg of cholesterol, 150 mg of sodium, 14 grams total carbohydrates, 0 grams of dietary fiber, 3 grams of sugars and 2 grams of protein, per one slice serving.
Taste / Flavor
The flavor offered by Wonder brand Potato Bread is mellow and agreeable. While this bread definitely offers more flavor than regular style Wonder white bread, to me, it does not really taste a lot like potatoes. Its flavor does, however, contain just a touch of sweetness and personally, I think a slight flavor of eggs.
Because I intended to write a review of this bread, I not only ate a sandwich with it, but I also ate one slice that was topped with a small amount of vegetable oil spread. The Wonder Potato Bread accentuated the salami and cheese in the sandwich nicely and the slice that was topped with vegetable oil spread tasted very good. On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this potato bread a rating of 8.5.
Wonder Potato Bread is packaged in a standard type plastic bread bag / wrapper. The label is largely blue and goldish yellow and it sports the familiar red, yellow and blue Wonder balloons. A comprehensive listing of all ingredient and nutritional information is listed on the rear label of the loaf.
All things considered, Wonder brand Potato Bread is a very tasty variety of bread that offers a pleasingly moist and chewy texture. This reasonably priced product is not necessarily stocked everywhere. If your favorite grocer does not stock this item, perhaps you could ask the manager if the item can be ordered. I definitely think it’s worth it. This product is highly recommended.
