The World Series Game 3 score was a change of pace. Not only was the World Series Game 3 score close, it actually turned in the Rangers’ favor. The 4-2 Rangers win was more in line with what most though the series would look like. It took two games, but the Rangers finally got big blasts from their bats, and shut the Giants down with their arms. But even though Game 3 of the World Series put the Rangers back in contention, the overall score is still in the Giants’ favor for now.
Like in Game 2, a home run put the winning team ahead for good. In fact, the only runs scored were off home runs, as the Rangers and Giants got two each. However, only one of those home runs was not a solo shot, and it decided the outcome for Texas.
The World Series Game 3 score was decided on a three-run bomb by rookie Mitch Moreland in the second. He battled Jonathan Sanchez in a nine pitch at-bat, before finally getting the Rangers’ first home run. An even more promising sign came from Josh Hamilton, as he got on the board with a fifth inning blast.
The 4-0 lead appeared to be more than enough for Colby Lewis. After the Giants slaughtered the Rangers’ pitching in San Francisco, Lewis finally restored order, as he has all postseason. Like he did against the Yankees, Lewis shut the opposition down for over seven innings.
However, the biggest drama from the World Series Game 3 came when the score tightened. Lewis’s only two mistakes were a seventh inning Cody Ross home run, and an eighth inning shot from Andres Torres. After hitting Aubrey Huff, Lewis finally got taken out for Darren O’Day, instead of Neftali Feliz.
Manager Ron Washington left himself open to second guessing in the eighth. But O’Day bailed him out by getting Buster Posey to ground out on a full count. After that, Feliz finally came in and overpowered the Giants, in his first save situation of the postseason.
Thanks to the World Series Game 3 score, drama was restored to the battle for now. The Giants still lead by 2-1, and they can still put a stranglehold on things with a win tonight. However, the Rangers have assured that there will be no sweep, and that Cliff Lee will get another shot at the Giants in Game 5.
By then, Lee could have a chance to give Texas the lead, or he will have to keep San Francisco from clinching in Arlington. The latest swing game is tonight, as the Rangers try to build on their new momentum.
After Game 3, the World Series score can either be evened up, or be put back out of reach for the Rangers. Game 4 will decide that tonight at 7:57 pm est on FOX.
