While “X Factor” hopeful Wagner Carrilho seems charming on screen, he has reportedly been heard attacking the show which shot him to fame.
The Sun newspaper claims that Wagner’s phone calls to a friend have appeared on secret tapes, on which he makes insinuations of vote rigging on the “X Factor”.
Wagner allegedly complained that he is given bad songs to sing and that Mary Byrne has been favoured over him because through the Boot Camp stage of the competition she was shown singing full songs while his performance was cut out.
These secret tapes have apparently captured Wagner saying, “”They will never let me beat the English. They will not let a Brazilian win. Nobody tells Simon Cowell what to do. The public do not decide who is going to win. It is Simon Cowell. If he decides Katie (Waissel) will win, she will win. And if he decides a group will win, then they will win. Simon Cowell can decide who he wants at number one. It is so double-glazing, it is so block-paving, it’s all sales – it’s bulls**t.”
It’s very interesting that this story has broken so close to the weekend. Had it been a real attempt to get Wagner off the show, it may not have been released until Saturday so it would be fresh in voters minds, but even so, this news will not do the Brazilian hopeful any favours. Wagner is already tipped as one of the favourites to leave the show this weekend.
What is interesting about these claims is that Wagner has suggested that Simon Cowell is the metaphorical puppet master of the “X Factor”. Cynics may have suspected this for some time, but there seems to be added reason to assume there is some fiddling going on with Katie Waissel’s appearance on the show.
Even more interesting though, is that the public – while still undoubtedly interested – have begun to fight back against the show. Last year there was a massive campaign started to ensure last year’s winner Joe McElderry didn’t get the Christmas Number One.
If Wagner’s so-called comments have any truth in them, he will surely be the next one out on Saturday night.
Of course, there is another theory. If Wagner is the next person axed from the “X Factor”, it might be because he has limited vocal talent and there are far more talented people on the show.
