One of the leading stars of NBC’s ‘UnderCovers’, Boris Kodjoe, tweeted that the show had officially been canceled; he thanked his fans as he admitted that he was saddened by this news. NBC is concluding that low ratings of the show are to blame for the decision to not pick up any more episodes.
“Produced by J.J. Abrams, the show made headlines as it featured two black actors (Boris Kodjoe & Guba Mbatha-Raw) as the leads. From the initial start, ‘Undercovers’ never got off the ground running as its first episode generated a 2.0/6 share, with less than 10 million viewers watching”, wrote Wilson Morales, from AOL’s BV Entertainment Newswire,
It is very disturbing to hear this news because it also has been reported that this show has better ratings than shows that remain on air, such as NBC’s ‘Chase’. It seems to be an unreasonable act on the networks part especially because shows such as ‘Outsourced’ and the ‘Event’ remains backed by NBC. One is not funny and the other is not entertaining.
The cast of this show was a beautiful ensemble with great chemistry. The scenes and locations were great and it has smart writing. Gorgeous actors, breathtaking locations, and intelligent writing, what more can you ask from a show.
However, sadly it is official the show will last air on Dec. 1. It seems that more should have been done to help the show survive. Another show that seemed to struggle, but also is a good show on NBC, called ‘Parenthood’, the network switched days and times to see if the show will catch on. Why was this not an option for this particular show? Switching the days and times on NBC could have given them a better idea if the show was ‘truly” not selling to the public.
Are we ready for these kinds of shows?
Kodjoe ended his tweet, “Now I gotta find a job. Let me know if you hear of any openings.”
