Have you ever wanted to make some additional money and wanted to give EBAY a shot, but are reluctant due to the stories that you have heard? Here are some tips to help new sellers such as yourself have a pleasant EBAY experience:
.) Check the buyer’s feedback – See if they have gotten any recent poor feedback and read what happened.
.) Check the buyer’s feedback score – Their score should be in the high 90’s (ie 99%). It gives you an idea of who you are dealing with.
.) Check what the buyer has bought recently – Make sure you scan what the buyer has bought recently. Some thieves will boost their score by purchasing cheap items, and then they will go for the homerun by purchasing an expensive item and not pay.
.) How long have they been on EBAY – If they have been there for a while then that’s a good thing. Some thieves open brief accounts, purchase expensive items, don’t pay, and then EBAY cancels their account.
.) Where are they located -Be careful when dealing with buyers from overseas.
.) Use PayPal – It’s a safe a secure money transaction site that will let you know when it’s safe to ship the item once payment is received. You can also see if the buyer is verified, which means that they have submitted crucial personal information to PayPal making them easy to track.
.) Purchase insurance for an item when shipping – If something indeed happens to the item you can get your money back.
.) Track the item with a tracking number – So you can track the item.
.) Have the buyer sign for the item upon arrival – So that you have proof of arrival.
.) Be wary of P.O. Box addresses – Anyone can sign up for a false P.O. Box. Address. Difficult to track the person if it’s not a legit address.
.) Package the item well – Package the item well so that it does not get broken into, and you have to deal with a disturbed buyer. Some Thieves will say the item broke and they want their money back. Always have them ship the item back to you before you give them a refund.
.) Have a waiting period before you ship – If it’s an expensive item, you can place a waiting period in your item’s description explaining it. Most thieves will not want to deal with this, especially if they are using false information to purchase the item. They will get caught before you have to ship.
.) If something does not sound right, then you can always back out – Don’t be afraid to back out if things don’t sound right when dealing with the buyer. You always have that option. Just make sure you give them their money back.
