There are many fun and easy Thanksgiving crafts that can be done using a child’s hand cut out on colorful Thanksgiving themed construction paper.
Thanksgiving Hand Turkey:
Construction paper in Thanksgiving colors (red, orange, yellow, brown, etc)
Elmer’s regular glue that dries clear
Craft “Google” eyes that move
Glitter in Thanksgiving colors
Have the child trace their hands on several pieces of different colored construction paper. Then have the child trace their foot (twice) on a piece of light colored construction paper. Cut out the hands and feet outlines. The food is going to be the “body” of the Turkey, and the hand cut outs are going to be the tail feathers. Glue the feet cutouts together to reinforce the “body” of the turkey. Then glue the hands on the back of the turkey to give the appearance of turkey feathers. Help the child cut a pair of turkey feet and a beak. Glue the Google eyes on, and then glue the beak and feet on the body of the turkey. Have the child outline the foot shape in black marker, or they can make a line of glue or designs on the turkey with glue and sprinkle with glitter and allow to try. Its optional to laminate the craft to last for many years to come.
Paper Plate Thanksgiving Turkey Art
Acrylic child safe paints in Thanksgiving colors (orange, black, brown, yellow, red, green, white, black)
Large paper plates, preferable 9″
Glitter in assorted Thanksgiving colors
Tiny Google eyes
Paint the entire side of the paper plate in a light color. Paint the side that is concaved in. Allow time to dry. With the glue, have the child make a design all around the paper plate and then sprinkle with glitter and allow to dry. Paint the child’s hands quickly. Paint the palm brown, and each finger a different Thanksgiving color. Have the child press their hand down on the paper plate firmly and gently for an even distribution of paint. Have the child lift their hand in an upward motion to avoid any smearing. When this dries, the beak and red wattle by the turkeys beak can be painted on. Later, glue on the tiny Google eyes. Use the marker to draw the feet and legs. Make sure at some point, the children wash their hands! This project can be a bit messy, but extremely fun!
